Pettole, pettole!

What are "pettole"? Let's discover this traditional food, which is a symbol of Christmas period in the area of Taranto. Pettola . A little pillow of soft and hot dough. You take it from a corner with the tip of your thumb and your index finger: it’s fresh of frying, you know it’s hot, but you’re willing to risk for it. You bring it to your mouth and bite it, curling your lips not to burn them at least, and “crunch”. The thin crust doesn’t oppose: you sink your teeth in its soft heart.  Everything happens while your mother tells you off because you stole a pettola just taken off boiling oil and see your face writhing in the battle against heat in your mouth. Nobody can stop me!

Versione italiana   Version française Trattoria "Il Cortile" Two months ago I found out to be coeliac and do you know what I thought at first? No, not “Goodbye forever pizza, focaccia, friselle and any kind of bread”, but “Now how could I do when I travel? I won’t be able to taste all typical dishes!” Yes, sometimes we travel lovers are not totally objective and logical. Then, a day, I realized I could, always in certain limits, indulge in some tasty pleasures: I discovered the project “Alimentazione Fuori Casa” ( Eating outside) from AIC ( Italian Association of Coelic desease), where you can find where a coeliac can eat without getting worried and being afraid of getting sick.

A local dish?

» When you visit another town, there is always a moment in which you ask: “What should I eat for lunch?”, “What’s typical here?”

Halloween's coming!

Halloween è alle porte! Halloween approche! Halloween’s coming! The bones of the dead and cooked grain I negozi si riempiono di articoli spaventosi, costumi, ragni, zucche d’ogni genere.

Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Ok, maybe not in the centre, but 70 km underground, yes! Those of you who are fascinated by the power of nature and its wonders and also are quite adventurous could find this post interesting. Cultivar!

Ciao a tutti! Salut à tout le monde! Hallo everyone! Bello, no? On the 9 th June, I went to the beautiful Valle d’Itria, not far away from Locorotondo, t...

Il lato dolce della festa... Le côté doux de la fête... The sweet side of the feast

In the post about the feast of the saint patron of Massafra, I wrote about the speciality that I tasted, that is to say the “copeta”. As when we talk about culture we talk also about food, I thought to write the recipe, in case someone would like to try to make it, not having the possibility to taste it in lieu.
