The Taranta, the healing dance

The origins of the taranta, how it has become a traditional dance and a symbol of Puglia and of southern Italy from a past therapeutic ritual. In Puglia , especially during summer, it’s easy to find some events where the main attraction is a folk music concert, played with tambourine, violin, accordion and dancers who dance on the   distinctive rhythm of traditional melodies (an example for all is the Notte della Taranta in Melpignano). Treasures in Puglia: the Basilica of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Galatina

Let's visit one of the treasures of Puglia, the Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Galatina: a real art gallery in one of the most important church of Salento. I have a thing for  cathedrals . They’re not just places of worship, but they played a fundamental role over the centuries. Building a cathedral or a basilica was a sign of devotion towards the Church, yes, but it was overall a way to show support to the pope. The more the commissioner paid to make a cathedral rich and majestic, the more important the engagement between the commissioner and the Vatican was. Here why many cathedrals and basilicas are proper museums and here why I like them so much. Some of them are so beautiful and precious that they’ve become unique examples and today I’ll talk about one of them that is here in  Puglia : the  Basilica of St. Catherine of Alexandria  in  Galatina . Visit to the king of the trulli of Alberobello: the Trullo Sovrano

Let's visit the Trullo Sovrano, the biggest trullo of Alberobello. Let's dive in this journey in time and in the tradition of one of the symbols of Puglia, which is among the most known in the world. Tell me first symbol of Puglia that comes into your mind. You may have thought about Alberobello and about its skyline made of trullis that with their grey cones animate the slope of the monumental district. Every place in the world has a monument that is a symbol and, even though each area of Puglia has its own, the trullo has a honor place in representing the region. In this blog post, I tell you about a particular trullo, one of those that you can’t ignore when you visit Alberobello: the Trullo Sovrano . Leggi in italiano

Trek and Yoga in the Ravine of Castellaneta

Have you ever tried to combine trek and yoga? Today I tell you about my experience in the Ravine of Castellaneta, where, thanks to Puglia Canyon experience, I made an excursion to reach a natural cave where we practiced yoga and reconnected with Mother Earth I always suggest to make an excursion in the ravine to those who visit Terra delle Gravine (the Land of Ravines ). I’ve gone on trek many times and have always found new things. Ravines are different from each other and each one has its own peculiarity. It also depends on which the aim of the excursion is.
